Our yesterdays in the arms of Christ

Our yesterdays hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true the we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past rest, but let it rest in the sweet embrace of Christ. leave the broken irreversible past in His hands and step out into the invincible future with Him. - Oswald Chambers
This painting represents the arms of Christ holding our past as He transforms it into something new, usable, peaceful and into ministry. The rotation within His arms is counterclockwise - the opposite of a hurricane. I did this piece with a paint knife, with just a dabble of brush in spots.

  1. Laura,

Amazing! I am in complete agreement with the counter-clockwise action. I've had dreams of people encircling a church building, walking around it like Joshua did Jericho. The purpose was for warfare and they always walked counter-clockwise, making left-hand corners. I knew in my spirit this was an important point, to go left and turn left again. I've never thought about the hurricane....nice one!
